So was she squirrely? Ive seen fins on the chine back at the transom because of this on bigger boats'78 20ft Cuddy

She handled and tracked fairly well (not as well as the full keel though) and accelerated a lot quicker than the standard boats but did require attention at the helm. IIRC, she had a 250hp Crusader Commander (?) with a Berkley WJ and was definitely a mindful handful. Unlike the standard keel boats which turned flat in a hard turn, she would lean a little to the inside of the turn and the stern would drift to the outside, not unlike the "drift" cars nowadays. It had a bit of a learning curve but nothing that a little common sense couldn't handle. Unfortunately, we did not have it in the shop very long to determine if there were any nasty characteristics at maximum effort or in a seaway. Since this was a special customer order configuration for use in a specific area, I'm guessing that George just verified that the handling was sufficiently acceptable for delivery and probably wasn't interested in pursuing this setup further.
Did make for a good looking boat though.
