I’m going to need some tips here. The shafts on these new wiper motors are much wider than the ones on the AFI units. Therefore, I need to drill the existing holes. But in doing so, I don’t want to expand the hole any further down, but only expand from the bottom of the existing hole up. How can I do this? If I just insert a bigger drill bit in the existing hole, I would be expanding it all around, including on the bottom.

I used a Dremel with a burr bit and elongated the holes up. Had to work from both sides.

Also, based on the attachment below, it seems that I should be able to use a 3 position ON/ON/ON toggle switch to control the new wiper motor. My thinking is that the toggle position for Fast (blue) would be up, the Park (red) would be in the middle, and the Slow (green) would be down. Does this seem right to you?

I cheated and made up a wiring harness and tried it on the bench. Shakey at best but wiring isn't my strong point so I had to figure it out before wasting wire in the windshield. I used a stepped rotating switch. Off -slow-medium-fast.

Okay, got the switch thing figured out!! I found an ON-ON-ON toggle switch for $6 at Grainger (Carling Technologies 2GE51-73) and tested it. My thinking above was correct!!

Bummer, the pantograph setup is not going to work. I have it fully retracted in the photo below and the tip of the J hook is only 3-3/4” above the rubber seal at the bottom of the glass. So figuring that I’ll gain about an in with the mid point of the wiper blade being centered inside the J hook, that still only gives me about 4-3/4” above the seal. The smallest blade they have is the 11”. Therefore, it seems that I would need at least 5-1/2” clearance from mid point inside the J hook to the seal below.

What brand of motor did you get? I installed I think an origo and didn't have a problem.

Same Schmitt/Oringo wiper motor (see above). Looks like your windshield glass on your Cuddy may be bigger than mine. Mine is only 15” in height.

the problem is in the wiper arm, not the wiper motor.
