  • Keel Repair on 260 Express

    I have a bit of damage on my new to me shamrock 260 express. can anyone tell me what's inside that keel??? how far in should i grind ??? is it wood or all glass?? clearly the damage is into the glass but ??? i don't really know the construction of this hull. the bow has some beach rubbing damage too. andy suggestions or input welcome.

    Keel is fiberglass filled with shamite. reas of hull is polyester resin and glass fabrics. repair is done with basic fiberglass technology/technic.

        not sure of the exact mixture. either ground glass fibers or sandy type filler and polyester resin.

            no this is a 260 Express with full Keel. We'll start grinding and see what we find.

              This boat was not made by Boynton so we can not say that the Shamite system was used. Don't grind too far and make more work than is necessary.
