  • Q-Jet tuning

Moving on from the timing to the carb. I remember from a previous life, we set up the carb with a vacuum gauge. Similiar to the timing. Set the idle screws for the best vacuum. I believe that on a Q-Jet that was something around17-19. Anyone know what I'm talking about, and can I do this?

Haven't done a Q-Jet since the early 70's. I went for the max vacuum and 17-19 seems right, maybe even 21, but guessing that value would vary with engines. Hopefully someone more current will respond.

I think it’s in here. Just don’t have time to look now.

Set at 18. Best I could do. When you go back to basics, it gets simple.
