Thinking about buying one for my 14. Nothing available and when they are, prices are large. Anyone ever look at these off brand engines ? Hangkai .

Tiller, 15 - 30 hp. New or used. Good used would be my preference. Any length. Prefer 2 stroke.

Never heard of it, but then I do live a sheltered life... Parts availability and service might be an issue. Water pump comes to mind.

My research says Hangkai are junk. Paint peels after a few months.

Chris, I called, left message. 10 hours from here but maybe doable if I stop for some fishing and hunting in Charlotte. Hoping to find something closer. The thing about the engines in the middle states, fresh water.

Thanks Chris but I just can't bring myself to spend that much on a small outboard. I have bought and sold Shamrocks for less. Going through a pile the other day, I came across an electric trolling motor. Think I'll give that a try. Any Ideas on the best battery or batteries ?

Bought a 15 hp Johnson, 1977 for $750. Outrageous I know but a deal in todays market. Runs perfectly with new fuel pump, rebuilt carb, new fuel lines, plugs, wires and water pump. Probably cost more than new.

And it will probably last longer than most new ones today now that you have it in good running order.

Good buy and lots lighter than today's 4 stroke 15's. I had one about the same vintage for many years for my dinghy on my 38. My son was a bit hard on it, ran over a sea otter which dunked it it the drink, Dried it out, lubed it up and ran for many more years, until he somehow seized it up one day. Pulled it apart, new piston, rings, honed out the cylinder and ran fine again. Like a Timex watch, took a licking and kept on ticking
