Most of the water exits the 2 holes on the bottom of each hooter. I think the baffles slow water flow when backing down or stopping and keep some water suspended in the exhaust all the way out. I don't think adding flaps or inserts will cause any problems, but they should make the boat quieter. After curing the shaft vibration, inserts and flappers have moved up my list.

    Hooters question.

Those of you that use the hooters, does the water exit those two small holes or is some forced up and out the top, back ? If I put flappers on the back, will that effect the exhaust gasses getting out ? What is the purpose of the baffles, I didn't put any in ?
