  • Crusader 270 in a 20' Open?

Need to replace my 302. I am torn between getting a long block and reusing all my new (1 season old) parts, 2bbl holley carb, pertronix distributor, risers, circ pump, and freshly rebuilt raw water pump (original all bronze) or re-powering with a GM.

Initially I was thinking 305 or a 4.3L Vortec but I just today got a lead on a local, great condition, running take out Crusader 270. Has anyone re-powered with a Crusader in a 20' Openfish? The block, from what I understand, is about the same size as a 351 but this one is fresh water cooled. Not sure if the heat exchanger and hoses will fill in the box?

Any insight would be much appreciated. And if I do move away from the 302 I'll have some good parts for y'all
