some will have pressure on them depending on where the lifters sit on the cam. They should have some pressure on them at all times. The rocker should be tightened the one turn when you are sure they are on the low point of the cam.

Put a fuel pressure gauge in line today. Idles and up to about 3500 it is steady at 6#. Higher revs and the needle vibrates rapidly at the 2-0 mark and engine dies. Carter electric pump from Summit.

Jerry, do you thInk the carb is too small. The only reason I ask is if you remember when that idiot from A1-DIESEL worked on my boat he put too small of a carb on the boat and it would do the same thing. Until it burned a hole thru the one head. Just a thought.

Will try another pump. Wired this one directly to 12 volts and same problem. Will get another pump.

What about trying an external tank?

Thought about that Ed but, wouldn't the pressure be the same always even if there was an obstruction in the tank?

How old is the fuel line from pump to carb. I've had situations where the interior of the hose is delaminated (devucanized?) and blocks the fuel flow under pressure. Just a thought.

You can still have a decreased flow with same pressure. Or be sucking air somewhere.

OK, hooked up a separate tank and line today. Couldn't get it started. Back on it tomorrow since the 26 is good to go.

Turning over this morning and the big clunk. Engine locked up. Had trouble with this engine from the start. This boat goes out in the boneyard. One less to work on.

The open to the boneyard? That’s just depressing, but I understand. It’s a shame.

OK, so I'm at the shop this morning and it is pouring rain. What to do? There is that 4.3 sitting on the floor, lets tear it apart. Fire up the air wrenches and away we go. Water was getting into #3 cylinder and a valve broke. Going to put in another valve and put it back together. No big expense this time. FW engine and FW in the cylinder. Head gasket did not look to be blown. How else would water get in?
