        • My father in-law had one sitting in the back of his father's farm. He got it when the stock market crashed and a developer couldn't pay for top soil he bought from the farm. I'll look for pictures. I think it was a similar model.

            • Thats really a cool piece. Gotta be careful running those old pressurized steam boilers on those things. We've got a steam and gas show every year for old farm equipment. Occasionally things get a little exciting.
Are you a collector of steam engines? Is it still operational?

I hang out with a group of guys that have been friends forever. We run steam boats, steam operated saw mills, steam shingle makers and now a steam shovel. Other things include a steam operated machine shop that is being reassembled as we speak. The boilers are inspected annually.

            • Very cool! A similar shovel was the subject of a favorite kids book I remember from the pediatricians office when I was little.

found it! Google is a wonderful thing, lol

Camp is 25 minutes west of Erie. Home is 2hrs 45 mins south east of Erie. We spend a lot of time at camp from May till mid October.

            • Steve, part of your job or the group you hang with? Same group with the steam boat?

No. The machine only weighs 51,000 lbs. We had to use the beam trailer to get the load "closer" to the legal limit and for the length to keep from disassembling it. Plus there is the cool factor seeing it go down the highway like that.

                    • Is it still operative? I am guessing no but?
