Amen from a never served. But I know the pain of too many friends who did. One by a self inflicted result of coming back home without his buddies. They deserve much better than they receive.Atlantic City, NJ

My dad was a Navy pilot. He was in college when Pearl Harbor was attacked. I once asked him why he enlisted and he looked at me like I was nuts and answered, " what do you mean, everyone went". This country sure has changed.1988 26' cuddy

I just got back from a trip seeing my 89 yo father and to go elk hunting. He told me stories and showed me photos of his time in Army Intelligence. I'm glad he's finally filling me in on his service. The only thing I knew previously was that he was an expert marksman instructor who taught me how to be proficient in all firearms.1987 26' Hardtop

My dad never talked about what he did during the war other than to say he was a radio operator and played baseball in A.C.. It wasn't until he was near death, he said he was a radioman on a coast guard escort in the north Atlantic that got sunk. He wouldn't say any more. My uncle was in the second wave on D day and he wouldn't talk about it either. A lot of pain that got bought home and hidden inside. Truly the GREATEST GENERATION!!!Atlantic City, NJ
