There isn't a lot to be happy about in our country today but I am still grateful to the founding fathers for doing sacrificing and risking everything. Happy 4th of July to you guys I know you share my concern.

Happy 4th of July to each of you. Hopefully the country will come together to remember the sacrifices the founders made to make this country so great and all who sacrificed so much over many generations to keep it great. With any decency people to today should be grateful for what has been entrusted to us and do our part to make and keep America GREAT!!! πΊπΈπΊπΈ God bless America.Mark

To understand the sacrifice, everybody knows the picture of George Washington crossing the Delaware but not everyone knows that men in that march froze to death walking to Trenton.Atlantic City, NJ

I just watched a documentary of the march. Two froze to death and only 5 wounded. It was the Hessians that lost more. All told, 22 were killed, 92 wounded, 918 captured and 400 escaped in the Battle of Trenton. It was a great win for Washington.
Valley Forge was another story 1700-2000 lives were lost. cold and starvation were not the most dangerous threats to soldiers at Valley Forge: Diseases like influenza, dysentery, typhoid and typhus killed two-thirds of the nearly 2,000 soldiers who died during the encampment.Last edited by GREGK; 07-04-2021, 06:41 PM.

I can't express how mad today's announcement by the Philadelphia Enquirer, home to our Declaration of Independence, to start a new series to rewrite our history which sounds all too similar to the debunked 1619 project. Here's their announcement:
Coming this fall, A More Perfect Union will be a yearlong series examining the many institutions that were born in Philadelphia, and their profound impacts on racism and inequity in this country today.
On this, the 245th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we invite you to read contributing editor Errin Hainesβ preamble to the series.
What a way to celebrate the 4th! I'm cancelling my subscription.
I hope you all celebrate this day in a positive and patriotic way!

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I worked for all my life
And I had to start again
With just my children and my wife
I'd thank my lucky stars
To be livin' here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the USA
From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining sea
From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to L.A.
Well, there's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say
That I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land (love this land)
God bless the USA
And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the men who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up
Next to you and defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land (love this land)
God bless the USA
Ol Lee had it right.
Belated HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE.
