  • Raised Hatch

I ran out of time and had someone finish my hatch project inspired by RC65. I got the bench seats from the owner of a 26 on Long Island. I replaced all the wood with Azec and installed new hinges. Seat unfolds aft but there are no supports yet. Hatch was raised almost 8" and is a perfect height. Can lean on seats like a leaning post or sit and see over windshield. Height also makes it easier walking around because seats overhang hatch. Just bulky trying to get to engine but doable.

Nicely done! And I like the improved functionality for you. We all use our boats a bit differently so tweaking is a good thing. ☘☘☘

So 2 years later the finish was always sloppy on the hatch and driving me nuts. So I faired the fiberglass topped with gelcoat and re-gelcoatd. First time working with gelcoat. I think I did OK. I also added Soundown and boy what a difference. About a 50% reduction I figure. Really nice at lower speeds in the harbor.

Nice work. Have you retired or something? What's with getting all this work done on the boat?

Ha! I know. Helps being home every night for 2 years now. Off this week for first time in 3 years. So just launching boat for season now. Weather crappy here anyway. Not much sun this year
