Are they worth using? I have telescoping ones that i never have used....hell, don't even know how to use them. Are they more aggravation than what they're worth?

We use them when water is too choppy to troll big boards but you need to get a couple extra lines out away from the boat. They aren't used daily but are a great tool in some situations. Takes some practice on set up but worth it once you have them working.

What karen said. Though useful, I choose to do without. On calm days I stagger the lines w/o an outrigger and on rough days drop back to four lines. (King fishing.)

Ocean fishing you can make it look like a small school of bait. 4 or 6 baits attack more interest.

And don't forget, all rods and reels MUST match!

Yeah man, my 26HT looks cool just with the swivel outrigger brackets. I can't fathom the level of coolness to have actual outriggers in them!

I had gotten aluminum ones from Jerry a few years ago but they didn't telescope and were too long to trailer so for my BD Chris got me a set of lightweight carbon telescoping poles and they are fantastic. Just collapse and Stash in cabin when not needed.

I have a nice set that came with the boat but they need new rigging. My electric downriggers are better for most of the fishing I do.
