Saturday we were on the Manokin...wind made it tough but my son picked up his striper. Sunday we launched out of Deal Island and fished out around South Marsh and Holland Island. Tide was ripping around the marsh points but only small stripers. Better grade of fish were on grass flats east of Holland Island in 4-6ft of water.

Beautiful Spec. What size limit do you have on the striper ?

The current limit is 1 fish 19in and over. The one in the picture is around 21". MD has some confusing striper regs. I think another moratorium is coming.

That spec is a cool looking fish!

We have a small population of stripers that are occasionally caught in the surf, they were brought to the west coast in the late 1800's.

Very nice! I used to catch speckles in Peconic Bay when I lived and worked on Long Island in the late 80's early 90's. These days they're rare.

NY has a slot limit for stripers this year - 28-36".

Jersey size limit is the same as yours. Most of the fish caught in the river here are the 28 or smaller. The river is a spawning river for the local population. The migratory stock spawn elsewhere.

I am waiting for an Atlantic coast moratorium on them...actually hoping for it.
